Study Categories of Life after Life, II
Now we begin Installment II about Life after Life Study Categories.We left off with a description of the work of Emanuel Swedenborg, the Resurrection of Swami Sri Yukteswar, and some information about NDE and OBE. Let’s move on into more information which is available about the wonders of Life after Life.
4) Channeling from Spirit side Beings through Writers on Earth side.
In this category I will mention 2 easily available books. These 2 books are back channeled from Spirit side beings who once lived on Earth. These departed authors were allowed permission by their Spirit side mentors to channel information through Earth side writers for the sake of informing Earth people that death and Life after Life is not so bad after all. In fact, it is Paradise. Of course, there are many other lessons in the texts, some of which I mentioned in my opening paragraphs of the previous blog entry.
The first book that I encountered was brought to me by a client/friend of mine who was a middle aged woman with metastatic pancreatic cancer. She has passed into Life after Life where I think she is doing very well, and she is healing her wounded life. The book she brought me is entitled Nosso Lar and was written F.C. “Chico” Xavier. The title of the book is Portugese for “Spiritual Home.” The author is a well known medium in Brazil. His gifts are spiritual and literary, having channeled over 300 books from Spirits in Life After Life.
The book is channeled back to Xavier by the spirit of Dr. Andre Luiz, who was a surgeon who lived in Brazil. The book chronicles his initial discovery that he had passed on, and evolves from this awakening into the emotional realizations which ensue. Dr. Luiz is mentored by beings who guide him and help him evolve into deeper understanding about his new spiritual journey. Interestingly, he details the activities of a hospital in the After Life which exists for the treatment and care of sick spirits.
My own mother and father were physicians on Earth before they passed on, and I am sure that they are still assisting other Spirit beings on the way of their journey. It is likely that we advance in Life after Life into a deeper dimensional perfection of the activities we were engaged with on Earth. We just keep advancing and learning.
The second book in this category that I would like to bring to your attention is Life in the World Unseen. The Earth side author is Anthony Borgia. Borgia channels Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson, a son of Edward White Benson, a former Archbishop of Canterbury. Benson had written numerous religious texts extolling religious doctrine. Borgia met Benson in 1909, 5 years before his passing. When Benson died in 1914, he came to the realization on spirit side that most of what he had written was totally false. In the world of spiritual Light, he felt remorse that he authored so many misleading books about our true spiritual nature. With the approval of the Spirits who presided over his growth process, he was given permission to “dictate” another book to correct the misconceptions he felt that he had brought to humanity.
The descriptions of Life after Life from the channeling from R.H. Benson are beautiful, calming, and soothing to read and ponder. This book is in alignment with the writing of Nosso Lar, but it is different in regards to the exact descriptive and aspects of where the Spirit authors wound up on Spirit side. There must be truly “many rooms in my Father’s house.” I covered this quote from John 14:2 in the last blog, and so I refer you back to that.
Regarding the word “religion” and the practice thereof, we might pause in the writing to consider the origin of the word itself. Of course I am only referring here to the English word “religion.” Since I am not knowledgeable about other languages, I can’t offer a widespread etymological treatise of this word as it may exist in other languages. The word traces its roots back into the Latin term “re ligio” or “religare.” In transference to English, we get the terms “re ligate.” The word means “to tie back to.”
In the surgery world of day to day operations inside of the bloody human corpus, we spent much effort ligating blood vessels with ligatures made from various materials, silk ligatures being common, as they don’t dissolve like some other ligatures which are designed to dissolve. We also spent much effort in “suturing” tissues together. The word “suture” comes from the Sanskrit “sutra” which means “to set right.”
And so the oblivious surgeon, as most are, practices religion and sutras in an unconsciously unconscious fashion (they don’t know that they don’t know, alas). One of my former surgical partners, however, did refer to the OR and the hospital as a type of church. Indeed we often spent the Sabbath inside of a belly or some other anatomical zone. In fact, we often spent 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, inside of religion and sutras. One would think that some enlightenment might arise there from.
And so, the word “religion” really means to “tie back to self.” It’s OK if you want to substitute different tie backs, like, “to tie back to God,” etc. And sutra means “to get it right,” more or less. More is better. Now, where were we? Ah, yes, the studies of Life after Life. I would state that Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson was practicing religion and sutras in his attempts to set the records straight about how we get it right by tying back to Spirit. One does not need wait until Life after Life for such Consciousness to set in. Realization can jump on you at any moment, and so, be open to It. It is pretty painless surgery.
5) Channeling by Mediums.
Probably the most famous present day medium is George Anderson. This individual has certainly been the most documented, scrutinized, studied, and publically tested of the lot, and he has held up well, astonishing ardent skeptics and naysayers. The accuracy of his medium gifting is seen in the revealed events, shared experiences, names and places for which the only source can be the living consciousness of the deceased.
One of the better known examiners of Mr. Anderson is the well known Gary Schwartz, Ph.D. (from Harvard, no less), former professor of psychology at Yale, and currently a teacher and Board member down at the expensive Canyon Ranch Resort, somewhere south of these parts. He also is on staff teaching at the University of Arizona. The imminent Dr. Schwartz has authored no less than 400 papers, and edited some 11 academic books. He wrote a book with William Simon in which Mr. Anderson is scrutinized. The name of the book is The Afterlife Experiments, Breakthrough Scientific Evidence of Life After Death. Such a title is a type of portent. If you like scientific fascinations from pedigreed pundits, well, here is one for you. More science is coming, however.
George Anderson wrote a book entitled We Don’t Die, and then he coauthored a book with Andrew Barone entitled Walking in the Garden of Souls. These are good books from a good source. Mr.Anderson walks us through the spiritual garden to help us gain some practical perspectives on the questions we face in ordinary daily living. Now that’s a nice spin from Life after Life. We gain insight on how to nourish our lives with love, how to forgive, how to accept challenges, how to withstand tragedy, how to increase faith, and how to grow toward one’s life purpose. Sounds like Haelan LifeStream .That’s the website you are reading right now. I’m not a medium, but I do channel my own Spirit. So do you. One can organize their emotional toolbox (17 key emotions, 15 of them are real tools, the other 2 are shame and guilt), and then one can get to know their Spirit that lives in them through their Heart Mind.
My favorite line in Mr. Anderson’s second book is on page 81, in the section “The Souls Have Never Left Us.” The line reads…..”We are closer to you than we ever could have been on the earth, and we will never abandon you.” A little earlier in the book he mentions that the Souls want us to understand circumstances in our Heart Mind that are illogical in our Brain Mind. “….there is a reason to bring peace, joy, and love to the earth in order to find the path to the hereafter.”
I call this concept “living a good life so that you can live a good death and more fully enjoy the fruits of Life after Life.” Perhaps Life and Life after Life are seamless events. Well, they are. I should simply refer to the 2 periods as Life, but I won’t, at least not until it becomes commonly understood. With most of 6.5 billion people afraid of death, I am not expecting a near future shift of consciousness on this consideration. Such a consideration, however, is in line with the next category.
6) Deepak Chopra’s book, Life After Death, The Burden of Proof.
Here’s a good book from a good author. Dr. Chopra has written some 50 books, and here is one that brings a lot of Life after Life themes together through the brilliance of a master weaver. The book has no less than 48 critiques in the Praise/Reviews section at the front of the book. It’s a Who’s Who Compendium of the other well known people that Deepak leaves in the dust, in my opinion. Nonetheless, they do weigh in well on this text, dusted as they are, so to speak.
He extends personal consciousness beyond the “artificial boundary that separates the living from the departed,” and offers the proposal that a person’s awareness in the present shapes existence after death; that is, the afterlife is created uniquely for each of us by our present level of consciousness. Who you meet in Life after Life, and what you experience there reflect your present beliefs, expectations, and level of awareness.
Here is a nice paragraph from the first part of the book:
“The period of the soul’s slumber varies according to how evolved the soul is at the time of death. The main reason for the sleep of the soul is to shed attachments. The strength of its attachments will determine how long it takes to shed them. When the soul awakens it can only enter a plane of existence that is familiar. If you were to enter a plane higher than your level of evolution, you would become confused and uncomfortable. Likewise, you cannot go backward in your evolution: you can only progress.”
As is usual in all of his writings, Dr. Chopra renders a very creative treatment of Life after Life. He blends his personal views into a weaving from our collective consciousness and historical cultural viewpoints. He also believes, as do I, that science can be evolved from its present limitations to advance our understanding of the mysteries of the Universe. In common thinking, science can be used to understand God. Einstein once said that a problem cannot be solved from the same frame of mind that created it. Insomuch as the concept of God was created by the human mind, then the human mind needs to evolve in order to understand its own Creation. Did that idea kind of twist you up a bit?
Well, who created the idea of God? Think about it. No, stop thinking about it, actually. You will just get in your left brain and probably create a new religion, or something of the sort, and that will only compound the manifold considerations that we are already beleaguered with. Did God create the Human, or did the Human create God? Perhaps the answer to this question lies in the consideration that the Divine lives in us as our very own Self. That will not be known with your Brain Mind. That will be known in your Heart Mind.
All of the Universe (Multiverse/Omniverse) is made of Consciousness knowing Itself through its own creation.
